Commissioning a Portrait
Whether you have a clear idea of the type of portrait you'd like, or are unsure of the options available, I aim to make commissioning a portrait of your pet as straightforward as possible. A quick phone call or e-mail is enough to get the ball rolling.
Alternatively, take a look at the information below which will give you some more detailed information about what you should consider when commissioning a portrait.
How much does a portrait cost?
Commissioning a bespoke portrait needn't break the bank. The cost is very much dependent of the size of the picture and the medium used (eg, Acrylic, Pastel, Ink or Polymer Clay).
Below are my standard sizes and costs in each medium. So whatever your budget there should be an option that suits you.
Please note that all sizes are approximate. Larger sizes are available. Please get in touch

General Information
Portrait Information
As I work from photographs, choosing the right image for your portrait is very important and very personal.
Are you looking for a more traditional head portrait?
Or is a more relaxed full body portrait at a favourite location more appropriate?
It really is worth taking a little time to make your choice and I'm always happy to suggest compositions from your photographs to enable you to decide.
Whilst every effort is made to keep to the original agreed composition sometimes it may be necessary to alter the subject mid painting. Depending upon the reason for the change and extent of the modification required there is normally an additional charge for the extra work undertaken.
Image Quality
An ideal photograph is one which has been taken in natural daylight and at head height using either your camera or mobile on its highest resolution settings (this refers to the clarity of the image on your screen. The higher the resolution the sharper the image at least 1MB)
If your image is then too large to send to me via normal email then you may send me a memory stick, disc or alternatively use the "weTransfer" website which is free, all you require is my email. For images that are pre digital I would prefer to have a copy of the original which I can then scan to my computer.
Payment details
Upon confirming the composition I require a 50% deposit (non-returnable) which can be paid via PayPal, cheque, cash or BACS.
I will then provide 'work in progress drawings' with a final image sent to you for approval. Once you are completely happy with the portrait I will then request the balance of the payment to be made before the portrait is dispatched.
Postage and Packaging is not included in the price and please bear in mind that for any framed work, insurance may be required for postage. I'm always happy to discuss individual arrangements before beginning your portrait.

This is a poor quality photograph as the image is out of focus and ideally the dog's head should be looking at you.

This an ideal image to work from as it is in focus and the dog is looking at you.
Copyright and Advertising
Each portrait I create is an original piece of artwork. Unless there has been a signed agreement to the contrary, I, as the artist, retain all of the copyrights to the portrait and on any future prints reproductions made of the portrait.
Images may be reproduced on social media and for the purpose of advertising unless strictly forbidden by the client. Pets names do not need to be mentioned on social media if the client prefers. However, the name of the pet is normally added to any images on my website.
Should the portrait be a surprise gift then the portrait will not be revealed until it has been gifted.
